Telehealth Services
Telehealth is the distribution of various health and related services to the public with the use of various information technologies including phones, computers and tablets. While maybe used interchangeably with telemedicine, telehealth is a broader term that includes long-term car and monitoring of patient conditions over a period of time, while telemedicine refers to the limited encounter between health care providers and patients.
As such, telehealth services may include initial encounters, diagnosis, medicine management, care programming and overall integration of all services. Telehealth in general have received further attention from various regulators, clinical institutions and physicians over the last few years due to the affordable and accessible use of technology and internet connectivity.
Telehealth found applications in various areas including nutrition management, nursing, emergency care, teledentistry and telepharmacy with the more widespread use of technology in health service management. Such usage also helped in reducing the cost of health case services.
Recently, and during the 2019 COVID-19 outbreak, telehealth was advantageous as it was employed by governments and service providers to offer public health services over the internet and the phone.
